In this day and age, a confused ideology of prejudice being extinguished seems to be shockingly common among many people. A recent study in 2014 proves that 1 in 3 people admit to being prejudice, some even subconsciously. This provides a heated, tense and unsafe environment, which could potentially lead to a rise in conflict, creating a dangerous atmosphere for future generations. We would like to share some horrendous experiences that teenagers, from different cultures, backgrounds and religions have been exposed to.

1.       When I was 13 I was coming home from school and as I got off the bus someone shouted "You dirty f***ing jews"

2.       I was at school and some year tens threw some pennies at me. These boys said “Pick them up you Jew”. Being clueless year sevens, I did not know they were stereotyping me as rich.

3.       Around the GCSE time, I was walking to school on a normal school day and two boys of the opposing colour came behind me, made gagging reflexes, Snorted, and laughed rudely mocking my Islamic clothing.

4.       In synagogue in the court yard a bus full of 14 to 18 year olds  drove past and on the top deck they moaned in unison and chanted “Jews, Jews, Jews” making fun of us who were only trying to help the community .

5.       I was walking home from school and as I was crossing the road, a car drove besides me and the person who was driving leaned out of the car and yelled “Dirty Muslim paki go back to your own country” purposely ignoring the fact I am a young girl.

6.       At a scouts group gathering, consisting predominantly of Muslim children, a white male tried to enter the grounds in a fit of rage as he yelled: "F***ing Muslims.

7.       On a train, there was a group of us in uniform when a couple tried to interrogate us by asking what our school name meant; knowing we were a Jewish school.

We would just like to say that the above encounters are NOT OK. Whilst many turn a blind eye or engage in such acts, it's time we put an end to it.
